View system front-end directors

Unisphere supports the display of director information.

Steps

  1. Select the storage system.
  2. Select System > Hardware.
  3. Click the FE Directors tab.

    Use this view to view and manage the front-end directors.

    NOTE: For PowerMaxOS 5978 storage systems running 9.1 or later, the NVMe-oF Front End (FN) director is available. The following limitations apply:
    • Ports associated with FA, SE, and FN directors cannot be in the same port group.
    • Only devices that are not mapped to any other front-end emulation can be in masking view with ports that are associated with FN directors.
    • Devices with the DIF1 attribute cannot be in a masking view with ports that are associated with FN directors.
    • Director conversions from FN director to other director types, and from other director types to FN director are not supported.
    • Setting or unsetting port flags is not supported for FN director ports.
    • Copying port flags from an FN director port or to an FN director port is not allowed.
    • Setting the device DIF1 attribute is not allowed on a device that is mapped or masked to an FN director port.
    • Mapping the same TDEVs to both FA and FN directors is not allowed.
    NOTE:  Some of the following properties and controls are environment-specific and therefore may appear in a different order or not at all.

    The following properties display:

    Director Director name.
    Port Port number.
    Alerts Director alert status, as indicated by icon color:
    • Fatal icon One or more fatal alerts
    • Critical icon One or more critical alerts, with none higher
    • Warning icon One or more warning alerts, with none higher
    • Infromation icon One or more informational alerts, with none higher
    • No alerts icon No alerts
    % Busy Percent of time the director is busy. This field only displays when the storage system is registered with the Performance component.
    Type Director transmission protocol.
    Director Status Indicates whether the director is online or offline.
    Port Status Indicates whether the port is online or offline.
    Port ID Port ID.
    ACLX Indicates whether access control logic is enabled or disabled.
    Cores Number of cores.
    Speed GB/Sec The speed of the individual cores on the system.

    To see more information about the details and performance of a director, select it and click Details icon.
